Female sports impact protection vest Zena launches in the UK following partnership with end-to-end sports brand consultancy 6EZ.

Australian founded sports impact protection vest brand Zena have officially launched their youth and adult vests in the UK following their partnership with Nottingham based end-to end sports brand consultancy 6EZ.

Zena creates protective performance vests for females participating in contact sport of all levels, providing extra breast and rib protection, whilst only weighing 160 grams (youth vest 100 grams).

Zena was born from couple Brad and Donna Johnson following their concerns for the lack of protection available to young women participating in contact sport.

They met with professional players and club officials and then conducted a survey to a cross section of 300 females involved in women’s sport.  The research showed many female participants had received some form of breast or rib injury, yet it went unreported.

Together they highlighted the need for a protective garment in the market and felt a responsibility to educate females around the risks associated with breast injury due to contact sport.

The vests have since experienced unrivalled success in Australia across a multitude of sports. Zena Sport’s Zena Z1 is already being used by Australia’s best rugby and soccer (and approved by AFLW for use in competition) players. Apart from rugby, AFL and soccer players, athletes involved in basketball, lacrosse, netball, cricket, boxing, and martial arts use the vest.

The vests are also being used all the way through to education and grassroots level sports across Australia.

The UK market is yet to feature such a vest for girls and women in sport, until now. Combined with the exponential growth of female sport in the UK, now is the perfect time to bring this product to Britain and help remove some of the barriers that stunt female participation in sport.
